Damen is a stunning blue Doberman with a loving personality and a ton of energy. His sweet disposition has won over every volunteer who has met him. When he first arrived at his foster home, he was a bit of a wild child, unaware of how big he was. But he’s been learning fast! He’s now mastering the art of keeping “4 on the floor” and walking nicely on a leash.
Damen is house and crate trained and already knows a few basic commands. He has excellent recall, responding well to both voice and whistle commands. He loves to chew, and you’ll often find him happily gnawing on bones, Kongs, or antlers. Because of this, he should be crated when unsupervised to prevent him from snacking on your favorite shoes.
This handsome guy is in excellent health, though, like many blue Dobermans, his coat is a bit thin. His foster mom thinks he’d look adorable in a sweater, though he might be tempted to chew it!
Damen is a playful guy who loves to run and will often bow to other dogs as an invitation to play. He does best with other large, energetic dogs who can handle his rough play style. He can try to dominate other male dogs so would be best suited to living with females or being an only dog. He would love a canine playmate that is young and playful to stretch those long legs with.
A yard where he can chase balls and burn off his high energy is essential, preferably with a privacy fence to prevent him from making too much noise at the neighbors.
Due to his high prey drive and energy, Damen isn’t recommended for homes with cats or small children. He would benefit greatly from basic obedience classes to help him bond with his new family and continue learning manners. He’s eager to please and motivated by treats, so positive reinforcement training will be a breeze for this sweet boy.
If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion who will keep you active and entertained, Damen is ready to make your life brighter!
